Mitsubishi Philippines
As a Japanese shipbuilding company, Mitsubishi had a long history prior to its more popular profile nowadays of manufacturing some of the world’s most renowned automobiles. Back in the year 1870, just two years after the Japanese Meiji restoration, financier and shipping industrialist Yataro Iwasaki founded Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (Mitsubishi Shokai).
In the early 20th century, Mitsubishi then began to explore land transportation and the world of cars, thus prompting the creation of Mitsubishi Model A - a car that many regard as Japan’s first series production automobile. Fast-forward to 1970, and the official automotive arm of the now well-known Mitsubishi Group was established. Named as the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC / Mitsubishi Jidosha Kogyo), it rose to fame as quickly as its automobiles sped to success on the road and on the track.
